Man Arrested For Selling His 9-month-old Son To Different Buyers At Different Price

CorrectNG reported that agents from Amotekun Corps have detained Daniel Chigozie, 30, for allegedly selling his nine-month-old son to three different buyers. The agency was informed by David Akinremi, Commandant of the Corps in Ogun State, that the father had traded his son Daniel Chinonye Darlington in multiple transactions.

He claims that Chigozie sold the infant to three different buyers in the Sango, Meiran, and Apapa neighborhoods of Lagos. Unknown buyers paid the suspect, a resident of Abela in Sango Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, N150,000, N400,000, and N700,000. This occurred between August 2022 and February 2023.

Akinremi asserts that the corps' investigation revealed that the man, who is thought to be associated with a criminal organization, devised a strategy for retrieving his son from each buyer following each sale until he sold him to Dr. Nosa in Apapa, the final buyer.

In his confessional statement, Chigozie admitted to the crime. In preparation for a subsequent investigation to locate the minor and a criminal prosecution, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) is conducting a profiling on him. Noble Uzuchi, a 17-year-old boy from Rivers State, was arrested for having a pregnancy with 10 women that he didn't want.

The suspect was caught alongside his accomplice, Chigozie Ogbonna, 29, by the State Police order. The two suspects are supposedly working a child plant with two different ladies, Favor Brilliant, 30, and Harmony Alikoi, 40, as per Advertising Official (PPRO), Elegance Iringe-Koko. She asserted that a report led to the detention of Uzuchi and Ogbonna.

As per Iringe-Koko, the four suspects worked in the Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre nearby government region of the state. The Police Prosecutor stated that a raid at their headquarters resulted in the rescue of the ten pregnant women and the arrest of the suspects.

The statement states: “On Saturday, January 7, 2023, at approximately 4.45 p.m., C4I Intelligence Unit agents raided two houses in the Igwuruta and Omagwa communities, respectively, where victims of child trafficking were kept, while acting on credible intelligence available to the Rivers State Police Command. The operation rescued ten victims, the majority of whom were pregnant.

Iringe-Koko also stated that investigations revealed that some of the babies that had been delivered in the house had been sold and that the syndicate leader kept the child and paid the victim N500,000.

“All of the victims admitted that they were enticed to engage in the illegal sale of children because they were faced with financial difficulties. The syndicate leader was rescued from a white Honda Pilot Jeep, she added.
